Provident Indeed I have come to acknowledge that he was the bravest WARRIOR I ever came across. In death he taught me what true resilience was. A tough and hopefull WARRIOR. A fighter to the bitter ends. And despite the never ending crisis attacks and hospitalization, he lived life like he wasn't a sickler. Strived to stand strong and live life to the fullest.
I look back with admiration, eventually understanding his perspective on SCD. That LOVE, HOPE, UNITY, PATIENCE, RESILIENCE, SACRIFICE and an unbeatable drive to live through and CONQUER SCD is the way to go. That we shall never give up. We are not going to give up.
So upon those ideals and in his memory SAVE THE SICKLERS is born. Our vision is to share the care he taught us to have. To share the HOPE he gave us. To CHEER Sicklers up like he cheered himself. To come together. To lean on our own strength. To support eachother. And to have a VOICE.
And even though in the end we could not save him. May, SAVE THE SICKLERS soar and save lives, create relief, create awareness and finally create change.
STS will exist because HE existed and I think that is the best LEGACY we could create together.
ONE FOR ALL.
